Wat Doi Suthep

A sacred temple to most of the Thais, Wat Doi Suthep is located 15 km from the city of Chiang Mai. It's on top of Doi Suthep temple and the journey up there was magnificent. It felt like as if we were driving up Genting Highlands.

It is said that this place is a MUST to visit if you're in Chiang Mai.

To reach this place, you can either opt to climb 300 steps of stairs or use the incline railway service for like 20 Baht. To enter the temple, you have to remove your shoes and with proper attire.

This doggy was found roaming around at the bottom of the mountain and also around the temple.

What makes this temple so special is the story  behind this white elephant. The elephant is said to have climbed up the mountain, trumpeted three times and died of the spot. This is interpreted as a sign and therefore, a temple is built on top of the mountain.

The white elephant and its legend.

The chedi of Doi Suthep.

Monks circulating the chedi with a flower in hand.

Flowers sold together with the incense.

Little girl praying.

Apart from that, you could see lots of big bells surrounding the temple. It is said that if you ring all the bells, it will bring you good luck.

Temple bells.

Oil lamps. Dad making his wishes one by one.

Cute miniature around the temple.

The temple is so cooling that the incense & joss stick seller had their baby sleeping there.

One of my fave pic that day.
